China’s ‘tumor research institute’ scam: Woman duped during bizarre cancer treatment
An investigation is underway in China regarding a fraudulent "tumor research institute" where a woman's mother was deceived into paying $27,000 for fake cancer treatments. The woman and her mother were introduced to a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner who claimed to have a cure for cancer. The practitioner administered questionable treatments, including bloodletting and applying cement to the skin. It was later revealed that the practitioner had no medical qualifications and the certificates he provided were fake.
