The tech world was convulsed on Friday after the board of directors of OpenAI, whose investors include Microsoft and Infosys, ousted CEO Sam Altman, saying it had lost confidence in his ability to lead the artificial intelligence pioneer and that “he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board”. Mira Murati, previously OpenAI’s chief technology officer, has been named interim CEO of the company that introduced to the world the popular chatbot ChatGPT.
